Thanks for all the help! AS you highlighted in your post remapping with DoubleCommand is limited. Hopefully the DoubleCommand devs will look into adding this functionality.

I played with Ukele and while it is a really cool app, I could not figure out any way to remap the command key (or option, alt, shift, etc...)

Let me try the modified version again and let you know exactly what issues I ran into.

All seems well now, I think that the issue previously had to do with the assortment of other keyboard remapping software that I had installed. I went through and cleaned everything out and now it is working! I have only been using it for a few minutes, hopefully all will continue working.
