I purchased the Ice Deck Legend about over a year ago and I'm really satisfied with it. A run-of-the-mill keyboard I'd have worn out by now, this one is still good as new. I even got used to the american keyboard layout, and customs didnt throw a huge fit over importing, even if it costed a little.

Dumb thing is. I spilled coffee over it, a whole cup, a week ago (reached for the keyboard in the dark with its lights off and forgot that a cup was sitting in front of it) but I was alert enough to plug it out as fast as I could. I also got it cleaned out, it looks good as new, and works fine, the only bad thing is that there was basically no way to remove the inner plating from the circuit board and clean in between, I can only imagine how it looks in there now, as bad as coffee stains, but I don't think desoldering every key switch would be a good Idea.

While cleaning out I also think I broke off something from this little plastic hook on the right side of the space bar while removing the space bar (its kinda hard to explain for me, one of the "feet" that hold the key steady at one level on both sides?) I got it back in though butthe space key is kinda unsteady now and a little more difficult to press. Does anyone knows a way how I can fix this, preferably by slaughtering some "lesser keyboard" of its parts?

IMPORTANT: You really really want to make sure it is completely dry before plugging it back in!

As far as the spacebar "feet" go you may be able to swipe some from an old Cherry keyboard if you have one...if not, email me your request at technicalsupport@deckkeyboards.com and I will see what I can do.

Sorry for ressurecting an old thread but i didn't come around writing about this till now.

Washing it worked fine (I used distilled water) and I was suprised how much dirty water came out, now i have another Problem/question. I use the keyboard a whole lot, even take it with me when i have to travel, it really looks still very new and pristine for that, but the plastic on the space bar got run down by my fingers and lost its roughed up texture in just one place, which doesn't look very nice and is very uneasy to the touch for me. (This is basically inevitable and was the end for every keyboard I ever owned, it probably comes from me resting my thumb on the space key a whole lot, because it never happens to any other key)

Maybe I'm a little OCD about this, and I understand there's no way to fix this. My question is (because I honestly have no idea) Are the keys in size and height also compareable to cherry keyboards? I could get an cheap cherry keyboard and then just replace the whole space key on the deck one with it. If that doesn't work I'll probably go ahead and buy another deck legend (because I got so much milage out of this one that I can hardly complain) but it's just such a ***** importing one that I'd rather try something else first to be honest. Would this work?

Damn you, now I just noticed how my thumbs partially polished my spacebar as well!!!

Dumb question: Why don't you just ask Deck to send you another spacebar?
(couple of them while you are there, so you don't have to worry for a while)

Another idea would be to polish the whole spacebar... Make it even.

I am looking into adding replacement spacebards to the website...in the meantime email us at technicalsupport@deckkeyboards.com and I will see what I can do.
