I just emailed an idea for keys, and wondering what you people think of it. Maybe if we can get some support on here they might make them.
What about key caps with removable covers seprate from
the letters that can be painted.
If you used a two layer cap design, a under layer that
would be a sort of milky white color with a "raised"
letter and a "over shell" that can be removed and
painted to what ever color is wanted. This would also
allow "inverting" if the ‘paintable’ cap was removed
an end-user could paint the raised letter of the
bottom ‘lighted’ cap with a dark "over coat" on the
raised lettering if your good with a hobby paint
brush.
I did a quick example (useing blue and green lit) of
what I mean inside Maya:
