Deck Legend – A year after.
Simply put, the Deck is the best backlit “linear” keyboard out there.Designed with care, well assembled and built to last forever.
Pros:
Design
Quality
LookCons:
Not advertized as “Linear” up front or in the product specs;
A tiny bit louder then average;
Bleak status LED Click here for easy fix modPersonal opinion:I really don’t care about the little extra noise. Since I’m a clicker & buckling spring fan, my colleagues and family are used to much louder keyboards.
Not sure why but I often hit the CAPS lock by mistake while typing on my Deck. That’s where I noticed the ironically dim status LEDs.
I’m a 70 words/minute user and like some other Deck owners; I also have the unusual hand fatigue and pain issues with this keyboard. It might have to do with my experience. I normally have enough velocity to break the “registering” point of the tactile keys. On a tactile keyboard, it is easier for me to punch keys with even impacts strong enough to register. I can’t pinpoint if it is because the Deck is linear or simply because the keys has longer travel to register but the pain is there. I also tried “floating” on the keys (not pressing them down to the bottom) but as another user described it, it was a hit and miss deal. Sometime the key registers sometime it doesn’t.
Overall, the Deck is a worthy addition to my keyboard collection.
Conclusion:
Highly recommended.
