I recently bought a custom Deck with a more plain-looking font, and put the key caps onto my 82-key Toxic.

Also, I added some white LEDs to the bottom of the board to light up the lower half of the housing, and changed the blue caps-lock indicator to white.

Here's how it turned out...

Hey, That's GREAT ! That is what the led mounting/soldering holes were intended for. It looks like the whole KB is floating off the desk, AND no one else has one EXACTLY like it. On occasion, I'll use a KB without any housing, just rubber bumpers on the bottom, and although it's a new KB, It looks like I'm running a junked computer made from scraps of this and that. Hey thanks, Tom. I started working on another mod, and was wondering if you could offer some advice to assist me. I saw the schematic posted over at this thread, and thought it would be cool to add an ambient light sensor to the Legend. I grabbed a couple of lx1971's to play with but haven't been able to get them to work.

I originally intended for it to be active only when a certain brightness setting was selected (likely level 7, since that seems to have a dedicated shift reg bit), but now I'd be happy if I could just get it working at all. Do you have any idea how I could hook this thing up? I'd like the LED brightness to grow as the ambient light dims. I'd really appreciate any help you can offer.

Our lead engineer told me that while he is not familiar with that specific light sensor, he had made a previous note of the following part:

There is a data sheet on that page that may help you out. Also he stated that while he is not familiar with this specific mod, his gut instinct is that you may need an amplifier in between this IC and the backlighting drive transistors.
