Hi All,

I bought the blue LEDs with my Toxic Legend and am following the directions for replacing them as per this thread:

http://www.deckkeyboards.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=260

Only problem is I'm stuck on step 5 and can't figure out how to remove the circuit board. It seems to be stuck in on the sides and I don't want to go prying until I know what I'm doing. Please help thanks.

NickelPlate,

Don't be scared to use a little muscle when removing the metal chassis/circuit board assembly from the bottom half of the plastic housing. The metal chassis is aircraft-grade aluminum and is very rigid. It snaps down against the side 'bosses' (aka screwholes) pretty snug so you have to pull it apart with some force. I take them out of housings all the time and I have yet to break either the housing or the circuit board.

Finally got around to doing the mod and it worked out fine just like you said. My function keys look great lit up in blue. I'll post a picture as soon as I can get a good one. It's hard getting a good photo of these things in the dark. Thanks for the help.

No problem NickelPlate, thats what we are here for. I dont think I have seen one with the F-keys in a different color yet...if you can post photos that would be great! It helps to use a tripod to take pictures of them in the dark so it doesn't blur and turning the brightness down helps too.

I'm definitely photographically challenged, but here's my best effort. The 2nd turned out better than the first. Pictures in the dark are very difficult even with a tripod! If I manage to get a better one, I'll post it. The pictures just doesn't do it justice. The colors are more vivid.

Wow fantastic job NickelPlate! Just think how many other keyboards you can do that with! I can count them on one hand...ZERO!
