I've been using my new 21 keyboard on the laptop since I got it. I just moved it over to the desktop and now have a problem.

If I plug in my 82 keyboard into the down stream USB port of the 21 keyboard the Caps Lock light of the 82 stays on and Windose pops an error that says "The USB Interface device is connected to a hub that does not have enough power available to support it.".

If I plug both into separate ports on the PC all is well.

The instructions indicate the 21 can support the 82.

It sounds to me like your laptop is not providing enough power for both devices. Many laptop manufacturers limit the amount of power provided through the USB ports to conserve battery life and I think this is what has happened to you as well.

Do you (or one of your friends) have a desktop computer that you could test your Deck boards on to make sure it is not a problem with the board itself? Other than that I can't suggest anything else at this time. Also please keep in mind that you are welcome to return it for repairs within one year, or a refund if within 30 days.

If I could I would use the force to magically make your Deck stuff work from not so long ago at a computer terminal far far away, but alas I traded my telekinetic powers for a Deck of my own. Who needs light sabers when you have these fantastic LEDs?

Adam-Wan,

Actually, I do have it connected to my desktop PC. I'll try all the available ports and also try connecting both to my laptop and see if the problem stays with the 21.

hmm I see this is an old post and you've probably fixed the problem now, but for anybody in the future, you can get a separate usb bus that has its own power supply and plug high-power devices into that. I have an ancient old belkin one for charging my cell phone real fast, it can handle up to 2A

Actually, no. it is not resolved. I just decided that eliminating an extra cord going to my CPU from my keyboard tray wasn't worth the nuisance of a repair cycle.

BTW, tried on 2 laptops and two PCs; same result. I think it is a keyboard issue.
