As far as I have been able to tell from most recent testing this should work. You may just have to change your preferences in the system settings. If you go to System Settings > Keyboard, make sure the checkbox next to "Use F1, F2, etc. as standard function keys" is checked. If you do not check that box you would have to press the Mac (or Windows) key + the F key to get the same output.
